If you are from further afield or maybe overseas, there are so many sights and activities for the visitor within a half hours drive. Here are a few of the possibilities to occupy your day, assuming that you don't want to just sit in the shade with a wine and a book. |

Goat Island Marine Reserve - Auckland regionVideos about the fish life at Goat Island Marine Reserve: The camp overlooks this area, it is a short ten minute walk to the beach. This reserve is one of the most popular attractions in the Auckland region. The beach is safe to swim at, so you can hire a set of snorkel gear at the camp or bring your own, swim out to the island just a hundred metres offshore. The fish are the world's friendliest fish and everywhere! You may also hire a Kayak and take yourself exploring around the island. Maybe you would just like to stay dry?.. sit back and take the Glass Bottom Boat tour instead. |

Surf 'n' SandLike to surf? Pakiri beach is a ten minute drive away over the hill, beautiful white sand and surf. Horse riding is a little further along on the beach and worth checking out.Fishing is good around the area (not in the reserve of course) from the rocks all up and down the coast, maybe even gather some shellfish at the Tawharanui estuary ten minutes away, it is a good spot to have a wander at low tide. |
